A guide to preparing a picture

A new guide shows what kind of picture draws well, what draws badly, and how to make one with ChatGPT, Midjourney or another image tool.

  • Real examples of pictures that draw well, each linked to its drawing.
  • The problems that make a drawing look scribbly (photos, gradients, small text, faint pencil) and how to fix each.
  • Copy-paste prompts for any subject, a diagram, or a photo you already have.

Animated infographics, logo reveals and a VideoScribe comparison

Two pages show what to make from a picture you already have, with real pictures beside the clips drawn from them, and one compares us with VideoScribe on the same picture.

  • Animated infographic: three infographics and diagrams, each beside the clip drawn from it, with the settings that suit a chart.
  • Logo reveal animation: two logos uploaded as flat PNGs and drawn by hand, outline first, then filled in.
  • VideoScribe alternative: the same PNG run through both, with prices and sources dated 20 October 2026, and when VideoScribe is the better choice.

Export

Any credit pack unlocks HD drawings and clean exports

Buying a credit pack once now unlocks the same drawing and export quality as a plan, for good, with no subscription.

  • Any pack removes the watermark from every export and opens 1080p exports.
  • New drawings are drawn at 1920 px instead of 1024 px, and stay that way after the credits are used.
  • HD redraw: a picture drawn at 1024 px can be drawn again at 1920 px on the same work.
  • Each drawing shows the size it was drawn at.

Studio

Recently deleted and Examples move into your account menu

The Studio sidebar keeps Library, API and Notifications; everything else is one click away in the account menu.

  • Recently deleted opens beside the sidebar, with search and a restore button on every drawing.
  • Examples opens the public examples in a new tab.
  • On a phone the Studio navigation is one row that scrolls sideways, and menus open below their row.

Studio

See when your drawing starts, and cancel it while it waits

When many people are drawing at once, the Studio says when yours will start and lets you take it out of line with the credit back.

  • Drawings that wait show "In line · starts in about N min", in the editor and on their library card.
  • Cancel a drawing while it is in line and the credit comes back; a redraw cancelled in line leaves the drawing as it was.
  • From any other Studio page, a tray lists the drawings in line or drawing, and tells you when one is ready to open or export.
  • If drawing is paused or very busy, the Studio says so instead of failing, and failures name the reason.

Notifications in the Studio

Welcome notes and reminders, such as a free drawing about to leave your library, arrive in a Notifications page in the Studio, and by email when they matter.

  • After your first drawing, a hint shows what to try next.
  • Every reminder email has an unsubscribe link.

Whiteboard animation examples, each on its own page

Every example now plays on a public Examples page, free and without an account, and the most searched ones have a page of their own.

  • Explainers, characters, scenes and objects, each drawn from a single picture: line art first, then colour.
  • Water cycle, light bulb circuit, solar system and plant life cycle have their own pages, with the moment colour starts.
  • Each page is also available as Markdown for AI assistants, listed in llms.txt.

Sign in without leaving the page

Signing in opens over the page you are on, and pages load faster for visitors who are not signed in.

  • Sign in from a dialog on any page instead of a separate sign-in screen.
  • Visitors skip the sign-in check entirely, so the homepage and examples render sooner.
  • A visitor whose browser prefers another language is offered that version of the site.

Privacy Policy and Terms of Service

What we collect and why, how long it is kept, and the terms for plans, credits, refunds and commercial use, in plain English.

  • The Privacy Policy says who processes your data, how long it is kept and how to delete your account.
  • The Terms cover plans and credits, refunds, your content and acceptable use.

Team workspaces

Add a workspace for a team and switch between it and your own; drawings, credits and API keys belong to the workspace.

  • A workspace switcher in the Studio sidebar, with keyboard shortcuts.
  • Drafts and drawings stay in the workspace they were made in.
  • Each workspace has its own plan, credits and billing.

A new homepage

The homepage shows real drawings being made and answers the questions people ask before they try it.

  • How it works in three steps, from one finished picture to a whiteboard drawing.
  • Pricing, the export options and a section for AI agents and the API.
  • Answers to common questions: what to upload, how long it takes, what is free and who owns the result.

Plans & credits

Yearly billing

Starter and Pro can be paid yearly for less than twelve months, and the saving is shown on the plan.

  • Choose monthly or yearly at checkout; the plan card shows what yearly saves.
  • During early access every drawing stays in your library.

Pictures of any shape fit

Portrait, landscape and square pictures are shown whole on the stage, in the style tiles and in the export preview, never cropped.

  • The stage takes the shape of your picture and fits the screen.
  • Library covers are one resized picture, so the library opens faster.

Studio

Drop or paste a picture to start

A new drawing starts from a picture dropped on the paper, pasted anywhere on the page, or chosen from your files.

  • Paid drawings are drawn at 1920 px on the long side; free drawings at 1024 px.
  • Pictures are prepared to the drawing size before upload, so large files go up faster.

Export

The new Studio, with transparent and layered export

A redesigned Studio: a library of your drawings, an editor that follows each drawing from upload to export, and a new export dialog.

  • Library with rename, delete and covers that show the drawn frame.
  • Change style and Redraw from the editor; Lines only and Background first are free playback settings.
  • Transparent export draws the subject alone; layered export gives every layer as its own transparent clip, in one zip, ready to recompose in your editor.
  • Export frames as PNG images, made right in your browser.
  • Exports are never upscaled, exporting never redraws your picture, and the dialog estimates the file size first.
  • Examples to watch, and to start from, inside the Studio.

API

Plans, credits and API keys

One drawing costs one credit, every new account starts with free credits, and paid plans can call the drawing API with keys.

  • A Billing & plan page with your balance by source and a history of every credit spent or granted.
  • API keys for a workspace, with usage by month and by channel.
  • Manage or cancel a subscription in the billing portal.
