SpeedPaint alternative: outlines first, then colour

SpeedPaint (speedpaint.co) turns an uploaded image into a hand-drawing video on its website, and inside Canva and Adobe Express. WhiteboardAnimation.ai also draws a finished picture you upload — outlines first, then colour, region by region — for your own edit or for an agent through the API. We have not run the same picture through SpeedPaint yet, so this page compares what each product says, not what each produced.

The same picture in both: not run yet

We compare tools by running one picture — our water-cycle illustration — through both and showing frames from each. SpeedPaint has no free plan on its pricing page, so we have not run it yet; until we do, this section shows only our clip. For SpeedPaint’s own results, see the examples on its homepage.

When SpeedPaint may be the better choice

  • You design in Canva or Adobe Express and want the drawing made without leaving it.
  • You want unlimited videos for one flat monthly price.
  • You want its grey-colour sketch style or its eight hand styles.

Using both, or moving over

  • Export the picture you want drawn as a PNG, JPEG or WebP and upload it here; every picture is its own clip.
  • Put the clips into your video editor — Premiere, Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve or CapCut — and add your voice-over and music there.
  • For drawings over your own footage, export with a transparent background.

Questions

Questions people ask

WhiteboardAnimation.ai can be used without paying: upload your own pictures and export the drawing clips (what is free today is answered below). SpeedPaint’s pricing page lists paid plans only.
No. SpeedPaint (speedpaint.co) is a separate product. Both turn a picture into a hand-drawing video; WhiteboardAnimation.ai draws the outlines first and then the colour, and has an API for agents.
No. It makes the drawing clip; you add narration, captions and cuts in the editor you already use.
Yes. A new account on the whiteboard animation maker starts with 5 free credits, and one credit draws one picture. Free exports carry a watermark and are at most 720p. Buying any credit pack lifts both limits for good. Paid plans add credits every month, and credit packs last 90 days.
Pro includes a commercial licence: use your whiteboard animation clips in client work, explainer videos, ads and paid courses. Free and Starter clips are for personal and non-commercial use.
