Whiteboard animation timeline editing
Edit a whiteboard animation after it is drawn: reorder its clips, trim them and set the total length. Nothing is redrawn, nothing waits in line and no credits are spent, and the export uses your timeline.
Every drawing is a row of clips: the line art and the colour of the subject and of the background, each a clip of its own. Open the timeline under the player and drag a clip to move it, drag its edge to make it faster or slower, or type a new total length. The change plays at once and is saved with the drawing, and every export uses it.
See it drawn
A real drawing from the examples, and its clips as the timeline shows them. Change the length or the order and the same strokes play again: nothing is redrawn.
What you can edit
- Order
- Drag a clip along the row to move it. With the keyboard, Alt and an arrow key move the clip in focus.
- Clip length
- Drag a clip’s edge. The other clips give or take the time, so the total stays the same. An arrow key trims by half a second.
- Total length
- Type it in the timeline or in Length beside the player, up to 10 minutes. Every clip keeps its share.
- Shortest clip
- A fifth of the length it was drawn with, and never under 0.6 seconds: any shorter reads as a flicker, not as drawing.
- Back to drawn lengths
- One click puts every clip back to the length it was drawn with. The order stays as you left it.
- Cost
- Free: the clips are already drawn, so nothing is redrawn, nothing waits in line and no credits are spent.
- Export
- Video, transparent, layered and PNG exports all play the timeline as you edited it.
Editing a drawing
Fit it to your voice-over
Set the total length to your narration, then stretch the clip your script spends longest on.
Speed up the colour
The line art is what people watch. Drag the colour clips shorter and the time goes back to the lines.
Finish one part first
Move a layer’s colour clip next to its lines and that part is finished before the next one starts.

Bring a finished picture
Upload a PNG, JPEG or WebP and it starts drawing in about fifteen seconds. We draw your picture; we do not make one from text.
